Hola people ! Today I want to share about drawing conclusions . This is for reading comprehension part and it's quite important for us to know. What is drawing conclusion ?

Drawing conclusions is a form of critical thinking. It is relating what you see, hear and read to what you already know"

 How to draw conclusion ?
When you draw a conclusion, you use all the facts that you can find in the passage to help you deduce or figure out what you do not know.

It's time for presentation. My group was last and I think Miss Zu was in a bad mood. She rejected some of our essays and asked to do correction and submit on the Friday. My group doesn't have problem except me hahaha. People do mistakes , so do I. 80% of my body paragraph was copied from internet and i was caught with red handed by Miss Zu. And I do regret and won't do it again.

Miss Zu was right. There's no internet when we're in final examination. All we have to do is by on our own effort.

Hola people ! What had we learnt today ? It's MAKING INFERENCE AND PREDICTION. Let me tell you a little bit about inferences and predictions.

What is inferences?

Inference are often referred to as what you "read between the lines". It's what the author implies or suggest.
When do we infer ? We infer all the time.

Prediction : The use of one's knowledge about language and the context in which it occurs to expert what is coming next in writing, movie and speech.

When do we predict ? We predict :

  • By asking questions that the text might answer,
  • Using prior knowledge or experience
  • Drawing logical association.
Understand ? Till then, goodbye.

Today was the day that we should do the real listening test . I was so nervous that I'm afraid that I could not focus and listen carefully. But alhamdulillah I can answer all of the questions because the questions were not too easy and not too difficult.

After we had done with the listening test, Miss Zu continued with speaking practice and the lucky group chose by her was mine. Haih my nervousness increasing gradually :p Miss Zu showed to us how she will give marks based on how we talk, communication skills, language, contents and so on . I hope on the real speaking test, my group can do our best. In sha Allah :) Till then , goodbye.

Hola people ! People says , " Practice Makes Perfect " . This is what Miss Zu expected from her students. She wanted us to get perfect in listening test and speaking test so she arranged a lot of practices for us. At least we can get used and hopefully we can speak fluently when in the real test. My group's turn for speaking test was on Friday and we have to get there before 8 am. Miss Zu also showed to us how about the marking scheme and what do we have to talk if we want to get best marks. After going through a lot of practices, I hope that we can do our best in speaking test :) Till then, goodbye

Friday 22nd February 2013

Hola people ! We should have a grammar presentation today from Syahira’s and Haziq’s group , but Miss Zu explained to us about speaking test . Oh my god, speaking test always make my nerve wrecked ! Truthfully, I don’t have high confident to speak English . Pity me huhu.
Okay let me tell you some information about speaking test. Miss Zu separated us into several groups and i was group with Syaziella, Hasyimah and Saifuddin. Thank god I got group members that always help me if I don’t  have any idea to talk about when speaking.

The speaking test is divided into two sections: Task A & Task B, groups of 4 usually. Here is the time frame breakdown:

Sit down clockwise, A to D. There will be two examiners for each exam. Once seated, they will check your exam slips and ICs. Handphones, notes, stationery etc not allowed as a pencil, a piece of paper and the question will be placed on the table for each student.
1st minute - just read the question and make a mental note of the words you would like to ask the examiner about. (you should ask the examiner EVEN IF YOU UNDERSTAND the terms to get the right pronunciation and 'borrow' ideas from the examiners. most examiners are very helpful and will give you some ideas if you ask nicely) (say: Excuse me but what is the meaning of ... DO NOT SAY: What means of...? which is horrendous grammar!)

2nd minute - examiners ask all candidates (A-D) one by one if they understand the question or not. (again, make sure you ask about any word/phrases during this time)
2 minutes to write your notes on the blank A4 paper given (tip: divide the paper into 4 sections, label A, B, C and D, then write only in your section. think of three points and for every point give reasons and examples, make sure it's in note form only to avoid reading)
2 minutes for each candidate to present Task A - MUST AGREE WITH POINT GIVEN (advantage for candidate D because she/he will have 8 minutes to prepare but the point is generally harder to elaborate than candidate A's point, so there are always pros and cons. MAKE SURE YOU SPEAK FOR THE FULL 2 MINS, and it is ok to just elaborate 1 or 2 points well instead of 3 points but not well explained.)
Speak according to this format:
1. Greetings (Good morning to the examiners and my fellow candidates, etc.)
2. Repeat situation (Today we are talking about...etc.)
3. Main Point (The point I would like to discuss is... etc.)
4. 1st point (Firstly,.. , This is because,.., Moreover,..., For example,.. , Therefore,... )
5. 2nd point (Secondly,... , This means that,... , Furthermore,... , For instance,... , Thus,...)
6. 3rd point (Finally,... , This is due to the fact that... , In addition, Take for example..., Hence,... )
7. Conclusion (In a nutshell, etc.)

2 minutes to prepare notes for Task B (now you can write notes for all candidate's points, have a ranking system 1,2,3 and 4, 1 is for best choice and 4 for the least favourite, this will help you with your discussion)
10 minutes to discuss. In the quarantine room, pre-decide who will do the introduction, and someone to do the conclusion (this person MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE TIME, as some examiners will NOT ALLOW you to do a conclusion if you go beyond the 10 min timeframe.)
TEST ENDS
That’s all from me . Goodbye :D

Monday 18th February
Hola people! After long time spent our time with beloved family, we started our class with new spirit and inspiration. Miss Zu said that she wanted to do some practice on listening test since the test will be held on next Tuesday.

How does the listening test be held? We have to answer the entire question on the paper based on what we heard from the audio that Miss Zu played. And sometimes the question can be so tricky so we have to be careful and listen carefully or else we cannot get the right answer. I think this test quite easy since we just have to answer based on the audio we that we had listened.
What are the tips on how to answer this type of question? Okay firstly we just have to read all the question and we can do skimming and scanning to easy us answering the question. And when lecturer starts to play the audio, we have to listen very carefully and at the same time we have to choose the right answer. I hope we can get higher mark for this listening test .
